Sandhill Cranes at the Platte River Spring Stopover

Trip by Laura and Mike Hoopes in spring, 2005 with George Archibald of ICF; photograpy

by Mike Hoopes, showing picture from several dawns and dusks when the 500,000 sandhill

cranes fly in, spend the night, and fly out. One night we saw a coyote attack, and another

night we saw an eagle attack, but the cranes are relatively safe roosting on these shallow

sand bars in the Platte River.
