1. Route: Mt. San Gorgonio via the Vivian Creek trail
   • Day 1. Backpack 1.2 miles from the Mill Creek trailhead (5880') to the Vivian campground (7100')
   • Day 2. Backpack 3.6 miles from the Vivian campground (7100') to the High Creek campground (9200').
   • Day 3. A day hike from the High Creek campground (9200') to the summit of Mt. San Gorgonio (11,499'). [3.0 miles one way]
   • Day 4. Return to the trailhead from High Creek.

   • Snow ball fight! The snowfall from the previous winter was so heavy that some snow patches near the summit lasted until our trip in late August.
   • Farewell to the high country. As we left the summit of San Gorgonio, we took a short detour and obtained this fine view of the San Bernardino Mountain ridge and the well defined cwn that was carved during the last ice age.
