12/14 I have updated the resources page with links to the summary articles for the second half of the course.
12/14 Here is a short description of the final exam, along with a few sample questions.

12/1

Reminder: the final paper is due next week, on Wednesday, 12/8 at noon. (This is the last day of classes.)
10/28 Our next topic reading is the argument from design. The Hume reading is in our textbook (see schedule for sections); the White reading is in the bulk packet. Selections form Paley's article are available online; focus in particular on Chapter One and the first part of Chapter Three.
10/18 The mid-term exam is Thursday, October 21. Here is a short description of the exam, along with a few sample questions. There is also a new resources page with links to the summary articles on the web you may find helpful.
10/18

I have submitted first paper grades via the Portal. Unfortunately it turns out that students cannot use the Portal to check their own grades. (Odd...) I'll be in my office Tuesday afternoon if you are around and want to pick up your graded paper. On Wednesday, papers will be available in the Philosophy Department office.

Note: papers turned in late (excused or otherwise) may not yet be graded.

9/21

Reading for next Thursday's class is from Paul Boghossian's manuscript on objectivity (use PDF icon at left). Please read at least the first three chapters (the first two introductory chapters are quite short), and the fourth chapter if you have time.

Please don't circulate without permission. The document is password protected; you should find the password in your email. Send me email if you haven't received the password.

If you find any errors in the document please let me know and I'll pass them along to Professor Boghossian.

9/21 Here is the official version of the 1st writing assignment. Please have your papers in my Philosophy Department mailbox by noon on Monday, October 4.
9/18 Here is a tentative version of the 1st writing assignment. (The topics are set, so feel free to get started. I will be tweaking only the writing guidelines and, perhaps, the due date.)
9/8

There will be no class on Thursday, Sept. 9. (I won't be holding office hours either.)

Class resumes Tuesday; please read Austin and start Stroud for Tuesday. (I will be asking you to describe Austin's response to the skeptic, so be prepared!)
